NHL Game Day – 2/8/17

It’s a slow day in the NHL with just one game taking place on Wednesday night, and it will be broadcast nationally on NBCSN. The Chicago Blackhawks travel north to take on the Minnesota Wild in a Central Division rivalry game. There is lots on the line in this contest, as a Blackhawks victory could cut the Wild’s division lead to four points, while a Wild victory could expand their division lead to a whopping eight points.

Let’s take a look at what the experts picked:

Chicago Blackhawks (69 pts) @ Minnesota Wild (75 pts):

Brendan: These two teams will square off twice against each other over the next two weeks, and the Blackhawks will have the pedal to the metal as they try to gain ground on their rivals for the Central Division championship. Blackhawks win 4-2.

Tyler: Chicago is .500 in their last 10 games, and even though Minnesota is on a back-to-back they should win this one against their rivals. Wild win 3-2.

Aaron: This matchup between division rivals is bound be a good one. Both teams are playing well and are both jockeying for playoff position. Wild win 3-2.

Madalyn: Blackhawks win 3-2.

Matt: The Wild have the second-most wins in hockey right now and are one of both the best offensive and defensive teams in the league. The Blackhawks have been a little up-and-down as of late and Jonathan Toews has struggled with consistency, as the Chicago Sun Times’ Mark Lazerus points out. Both teams are elite and in contention for first place in the Central Division, but I expect the Hawks to down the Wild tonight in Minnesota’s second game of a back-to-back. Blackhawks wins 4-3.

Expert Pick-Em Leaderboard:

  1. Richard: 10-4 (.714)
  2. Aaron: 4-2 (.667)
  3. Tyler: 17-8-2 (.630)
  4. Matt: 15-8-1 (.625)
  5. Brendan: 25-14-7 (.543)
  6. Madalyn: 9-9-1 (.474)
